during your EVing career you may weld one of your contactors stuck and may be thinking of replacing them with more better ones, at that point you may discover not all relays and big relays (pronounced: "contactors") were created equal. Some are regular relays/contactors and others are Economized, and the ladder can be internally economized or externally economized.
So what is an Economizer relay / Contactor?
Well the video below is a very good explanation / demonstration so I thought I would share it. By the way the presentor works for EV West so he knows his way around EVs.
