DC Power Supply for Bench Testing Tesla SDU

Post by gwynthompson »

Does anyone have recommendations on a DC power supply for initial bench testing of the Tesla M3 SDU? It looks like the recommended voltage is 40-100 for testing but I am not sure the current draw with no load. There are many 50V 6A power supplies available but I am not sure if that would be suitable with only 6A. My main goal is just to get a bench test done with the drop in controller.

I recommend connecting 4 car batteries in series. Charge them individually, in parallel or in series beforehand. This way you have no problem with the current and can also test the recuperation. Running a charger in parallel during the test was not a good idea for me, as it was destroyed during recuperation.
