Is this coolant leak something to be worried about?

Post by Dstandfast »

I recently purchased this 110kwh battery for a Lordstown Endurance on ebay for my conversion, claimed to be in excellent condition. I haven't picked it up yet, and in looking at the listing photos I noticed what looks to be some coolant leaks on the side of the pack, exactly where a careless forklift driver could have stabbed the pack and ruptured a line (just a guess).

I'm getting this pack for a decent enough price that I'm not opposed to repairing the coolant lines, but I was worried about corrosion. The main coolant lines were cut and I imagine were mostly drained, but does that look like enough to potentially cause an issue? Assuming coolant did drain out at a puncture, how damaged/corroded is the pack likely to be if they left it sitting at the bottom for 1-2 months?

I'm requesting more photos, and can obviously check the pack far better when I pick it up, but it'll be a cross country drive and I'd rather cancel the order if it's likely to have seriously damaged the modules. I wanted to check with some people that might be more knowledgeable than me on this, any thoughts would be very appreciated!

Yes coolant plus batteries is bad and not really fixable.
