Tesla M3 battery module position

I’m reconfiguring a model 3 standard range plus battery into a two over two configuration. The BMS boards are labeled 1-4 and they are connected in series like that. I would like to connect them in series 1-3-2-4 would this cause a problem stock charger? The reason is to keep the bolt hold downs all on one side.

Yes, it'll likely to cause problems. The way the ISO SPI interface to the BMB boards work is it shifts serial data through the chain of the four serially connected BMBs. If you change the order, it'll actually change the order of the data in the data stream between the BMS Master and the BMBs.
