I'm throwing ideas about for an MX5 (MK1 or MK2) conversion, and I've discovered that there is a chance that the small front drive unit from a non-GT AWD MachE could physically fit within the mx5's rear subframe.
The only thing is that the this unit is rated at 50kW and 150Nm in the MachE. I'm tempted to think that the motor itself is capable of more, being similar in size to an EM57 (Leaf), and that it might be the inverter calibration limiting it at 50kW.
Has anyone ever looked at these, and is there any info out there on the actual capability of the motor?
