Can I use the v3.0

Post by zippy500 »

Is it possible to use the V3.0 board, I have the leaf motor ( I don't have the matching leaf invertor )
I have a power stage from Pauls design .

will this setup run the leaf motor, ?

Yes the brain board is power-stage-agnostic. Do you have gate drivers that are happy with a 3.3V push/pull signal or 5V open collector?

sorry you have to help me out here.

Please see my pic, I have the three IGBts (600v 600amp) mounted on a 10mm ali plate, the copper bus bars and the three current sensors.

and a temp sensor mounted near one of the IGbts

Does this look suitable ?

Thats all I have as my setup, will I require other parts other than the V3 board?

Ok, I see. To complete this you'd basically need all the parts from the Version 2.1 kit (https://openinverter.org/shop/index.php ... duct_id=50) minus the V2.1 mainboard plus the V3 mainboard (https://openinverter.org/shop/index.php ... duct_id=58). I will set this up as an item on the shop.

Product added: https://openinverter.org/shop/index.php ... duct_id=60
I will be able to ship it mid August as I have not compiled a BOM for this combination yet.

hello new member

not getting much sleep as ive just got into evs, is this open source project?
i see there are dc controllers available open source wonder if someone can tell me which one is the best one?
i plan a small ev car using a electric forklift motor if i can but funds are reall limited
would love to built the ac inverter i see a shop, sade face i am unable to work so funds are really limited just need something to keep me active
am i right in thinking this is Damien Maguire project from you tube, wicked sense of humour.

thanks

Hi, I have a conversion with a Leaf motor and home made IGBT block. I have an analog PWM system driving it (triangle oscillator and comparators on UVW sines) this works but has some noise issues which would hopefully dissapear if I used the V3.0 board with its digital PWM generation. A couple of questions: how many V3.0 based vehicles have been successfully implemented? does the V3.0 have Field Weakening to get to the normal Leaf motor speeds? Thanks !

Leaf Adapter Board

Post by jerrykco »

Johannus, I am still working on my MGB Conversion, and to add connections that are not in the Leafs wire harness connector to the Invertor, I have done the following:

Here I have wired to the back side of the connector red to pin 25 in_reverse, white to pin 16 in_forward, Yellow to pin 22 in_start and orange to pin 29 throttle1.

I took this tack because disassembling the plug and finding the right pins and not destroying the plug seemed daunting to me. This seemed easier to me. I drilled a 1/4" hole to the side and between the top and bottom sections of the plug receptacle.
I had thought about trying to solder to a via but I am not that skilled nor did I trust I could do it a) into the correct via and b) I was worried about destroying the trace.

What occurred to me later was I wish there was a connector on the adapter board to make the pins available to attach the wires to. I realize a revision to the adapter board would be required. It's just an idea for the future (if it's a good one as I am not an EE).
