Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
I was wondering if any work was being done on CCS charging and using the super chargers. I understand that fast charging bypasses the charger but I would think the logical place for fast charging control would be to come from the charger.

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Ref. ver 3 board and EVSE.
I use the OUT1 to activate HV DC charge contactor, and it works.
And I don't have precharge for the DC charge contactor.
Is it okay to do it this way?

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Does anyone know the coolant flow direction for the gen.2 charger.
50% chance I mounted it the correct way
It looks like this inside the coldplate:

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
I have ran coolant in both directions without problem.
I'm going to need a hacksaw
Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Hi All,
Ryan here with EPower Racing.
We've been really successful running two Tesla chargers in parallel using V2 boards to charge our EV "Tesla" Cobra at the track between races. Being able to push out ~18kW has made competition actually viable for us now that we're able to fully recharge after each run.
We have a third charger we'd like to add to our DIY "supercharger" that I've been so far unsuccessful in getting to work on its own (would like to confirm operation before adding it into the bigger system). Using a working board with no software changes from one of the other chargers, this third unit fails to start up. Taking a look at the serial monitor, there seems to be a few odd readings. I do hear all the normal relay clicks at the right timing, however no current is flowing. AC voltage is being read correctly, however it appears to read a phantom 16A AC that does not exist when I check the line with a current loop. On the output side, I have verified that my battery pack is at 395V, however the charger reports the voltage as 540V. This of course explains why no current is being outputted, but it remains a mystery to me why the voltage reading would be so inaccurate. Again, the control board being used here functions perfectly fine on a different charger and reports the correct battery pack voltage in that situation. Any ideas as to what's happening with this charger and how I might be able to get it working? Every charger we have is a Gen2 model.
Thanks for any advice you can give
-Ryan

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
I have a charger here that does just that. Seems to be a difference in the can transmission. I've not had a chance as yet to investigate due to workload.
I'm going to need a hacksaw

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Can you post the full part numbers for each charger? Maybe its a difference between master/slave firmware or hardware build revision

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Ryan is away, so I am replying for him. Unfortunately, the part numbers of all chargers are the same: 1014963-00-E
One thing that has confused us is that all 3 modules on the defective charger behave the same. Other than shared inputs and outputs, aren't all three modules independent and isolated?

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Yes they are independent but my guess is the firmware is either older or newer than the others. As I say I do have one here on the shelf with the same behavour so will get to it.

Hi all
Have a Gen 3 Australia charger waiting on Damien’s board now.
I plan to charge a Chevy volt pack what would be the simpler way to connect to the BMS?
Cheers Conrad

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
What would happen with amp draw if the EVSE Proximity resistor divider is changed during charging!?
If the amp is changed, I would like to use it for changing the end of charge current.
I know I could alter the pilot signal to, but that is more complex.
Will there be CAN bus control of the GEN2 ver3 board? (I use SImp BMS)

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Changing the proximity resistor during charging will have no effect other than causing a disconnect. Currently there is no can control in the charger software but if someone wanted to implement it I won't complain:)

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
I have a crude version of DC current control that needs testing, once this is tested I will look at merging this back into the open source version.
Can control message is a copy of the Elcon can control.

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
Hi All,
Has anyone had any luck using the rev 2 open source boards with a 1014963-00-K Gen 2 charger? We have a possible line on a replacement unit but I don't want to purchase it if there's a known compatibility issue with the firmware for this revision.
Thanks,
-Ryan

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
My chargers are models 1014963-00-K and 1014963-00-J. I can only get one of the three modules to charge (any module, just only 1 at a time). Both chargers behave exactly the same. I suspect temperatures (that firmware is regulating modules operating based on temp readings) but haven't gotten to rigging up a test coolant system yet, nor has the ambient temperature dropped enough in Texas yet (might see <80F tomorrow morning - yeehaw).

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
I have a question. I have a Tesla Gen3 Charger 72A. Do I need a motherboard with AC contactors if I want to use Open Boards? Can I remove the AC motherboard?

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
if the original Logic board is damaged inside the Tesla Gen 2 Charger in my TESLA Model S,
can i replace it with the board from the evbmw shop.
And it will operate 100% compatible in my Tesla Model S?
I meen the following item:
Tesla Gen 2 Charger Logic board fully built and tested for the Tesla GEN2 onboard battery charger.
Fits all GEN2 chargers both master and slave.
New 2019 Version 4 board.

Re: Tesla Charger Support Thread
No it will not work in your Tesla.
But if you are looking for working original logic board, then this is the right place.
I have tree of them.

OK.
in another conversion case, we want to use two Tesla Gen 2 Chargers.
One as Master with the board from the evbmw shop.
The second as Slave, with the original TESLA Logic board inside.
How i can control the Slave, with the original TESLA Logic board inside?
Wich commands i have to use on the Master over its serial interface?
