Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit Prius Gen 3 ZOMBIE
so decided to get a head start on the weekend to see if Ali can make a liar out of me, since I think I can't assembly this 3D puzzle in a Saturday
steering column and the seats are back in (yes the seats got a bit dirty, but ask me if I care, too excited to drive the thing!)
and these horrid aftermarket Mexican tail light lenses are on, boy do they suck

Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit Prius Gen 3 ZOMBIE
got the BMW 330e OEM battery box back in, but before I done did that I decided to lighten the load a bit and remove some unnecessary appendages
this oblong coolant hole will be perfect access to get the Outlander charger cable to the Safety Box inside this battery pack, of course it will get water tighted sealed [eventually]
this Flux Capacitor had to go

Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit Prius Gen 3 ZOMBIE
unplastification of the stock OEM BMW 530e battery pack high voltage orange cable to something something was next, I honestly have no idea what this ran to in it's stock configuration but in our case it will run to the Prius inverter
see it pays to always ask if they can throw in some cables or wires
fingers crossed she will reach
and perfection, she made it all the way to the Prius inverter

I also spied this rather interesting pedestal floor mounted yet firewall suspended twisty metal rod throttle pedal in a 2007 Honda Cervix, which I thought was worth a share, I was amin' at pullin' it but I left my deep socket at home

the overall thickness including the orange conduit is 11 mil, I will measure the internal copper strands once I cut this one
here's a link to me cutting the same cable for my truck

You didn't happen to measure the length of this BMW battery cable?

Mitsubishi Outlander Charger BMW 330e Safety Box Marriage
The Outlander charger needs it's capacitor pre charged so we will leverage the OEM BMW 330e Safety Box (contactor box) in the same way it pre charges the cap in the Prius inverter
pay no attention to the + - markings those do not correspond with these skinny orange charger wires

loading up the battery pack with five battery modules, each one of these little suckers is good for at least 5 miles of range
this is a dinky battery pack out of a hybrid BMW 330e, I know that, it is great for prototyping and testing, it's not meant to be the be all end all

Re: 1984 Voltswagen Rabbit Prius Gen 3 ZOMBIE
so cut one of the stock ends off of the OEM BMW 530e high voltage battery pack cable and crimped on some ring terminals. this is how we will connect it to the Prius inverter
remember: the smaller the task the more tools you'll need

Mima used to say it's always a good sign when liquids are going in! Turns out the leak in the video was from the overflow port at the top of the coolant reservoir and a funnel took care of that issue.

trying to use as much OEM stuff as possible, so here is the water pump from the same 3rd gen Prius as my inverter and transaxle, it's a simple 4 wire jobbie with: ground, pwm in, pwm out, and 12v, not necessarily in that order, I hope to get the pwm fingered out but for a test drive I may just run it at full speed, what say you?
side note: I have recently taken up an unpaid internship at the Jamie Jones Institute of Cameratology (via his remote extension online course offering)
