Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
How did you manage to remove the capacitor section from the gs450h inverter? It seems very well attached with the silicone, and I don't want to crack it.

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
It's not silicone it pu adhesive. Start at one corner with a thin screwdriver. Be slow as you want to let the pu break the bond. See WeberAuto videos on youtube for more detail on the type of adhesives toyota use.

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
Thanks for the advice. I got it open successfully.
I took some photos of the inverter control board if anyone is interested. https://imgur.com/a/z4XYsMP
I am also an electronic engineer, so if I can help with developing a board for the GS450H let me know.

That would be much appreciated. I'm snowed under with projects.

I found the project log of the BMW with the GS450H posted earlier.
https://hackaday.io/project/4649-diy-el ... cled-parts
I think there is some useful information there.

Trouble is, he's deliberately left out all the useful information. >:(

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
Hmmm.. can't agree with that statement, because there is in fact a lot of useful information in the pages of mauswerkz E46 HaD project; for example: https://hackaday.io/project/4649/logs?s ... est&page=4
At one point about three years ago exactly Vincent (mauswerkz) was considering an open-source release of his work. But it seems source design and code files have yet to be released. Possibly an invitation to join the discussion here would be well received? The fellow is quite easy to contact via an internet search.
Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
Sorry. Didn't mean to offend.
Vincent would be a great asset.
I got the impression he'd moved on from this sort of stuff.

All the more reason to release it and save duplication of effort.

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
I sent him a pm on diyelectriccar forum when i was getting started on this. No response to date.
I have worked out most of whats needed to design a logic board and I will get to it just snowed under.

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
i intend getting voltages off of the DC/DC connector off the side of the inverter when i get a chance with either voltmeters and or with a picoscope. I have a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2012 on the lawn to test with. Will submit oscillographs here when i can.
I have just picoscoped either NODD pin 21 or VLO pin 11 of Power Management Control ECU and got the following mark space oscillogram. I think i have the wrong polarity. I could not tell because i did this work when it was nearly dark. will try to get more waveforms in next few days.

it is apparently similar to a is300h inverter.

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
Does the booster shut off if you connect 360Vdc for the battery? Like does it have some overvoltage protection? I tried to connect 360Vdc but cant really find anything helpfull untill i get your breakaway board.Jack Bauer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:07 am These Toyota inverters are a huge untapped resource. I just wish I had the skills and finance to make it happen quicker.
In the same vein it is of course impossible to kill the booster. No turning on both high and low , no running the pwm freq too high too low or too much or too little duty.

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
We're going back in time a bit here, but following from this video:
How did you manage to enable the converter here? I've tried inputting PWM to what I believe to be the gate driver inputs of the converter PCB (the control board that lives in the converter housing), but I don't get a response. Do you have any info on this unit? Been pulling my hair out for 2 days so far on this!
Do you have any notes on the connections you made to this unit?

Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
Thanks Damien. Were you able to find these? I've got a provisional controller and code for this converter now, its just connecting it up that I'm struggling with.
Re: Lexus Inverter Hacking
I thought you guys were purposely bypassing the boost converter as it would be to limited in power, and work with a battery with a higher total voltage.
I should do more reading and watching all the videos I guess.
