Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
dear Bexander.
I've been following your work for a long time.
and I appreciate your work.
could you please help me and answer some questions.
1. according to your photo of the installation between the inverter and the motor, I can not see the order of connection of three-phase wires, I need to see the order of connection. on the inverter, the numbers for the current sensor and the numbering of the phases I marked correctly. and correctly marked on the engine?
2. I have problems with setting parameters. can i see your parameters? and which version of the firmware did you choose V4.96 ---- V5.06.
3. how is syncofs and syncadv configured? for some reason I did not find syncadv on the new version.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
1. With the phase order markings on the motor, on the inverter I have the opposite order i.e. switch 1 & 3. Phase order as in picture above. I don't know the order of the current sensors but it is the stock Toyota placement and then using the logic board to handle the connections.
2. My latest parameters. 5.06 is the SW I would recommend at this stage but to tune syncofs you might need to switch to 4.94 temporarily to get manualid/iq to work correctly.
3. Syncofs is tuned as described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SlL6cEoRBg
Syncadv is not normally tuned.

Thank you so much. I'll try. I was wrong. not syncofs, but synsofs as configured

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Maybe my phase order is as described in the picture... I will have to double check when I get home.

Use 4.97.R software https://github.com/jsphuebner/stm32-sin ... ag/v4.97.R
With tuning done you can use a newer software.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
That is not needed for resolvers. It is used for sin/cos ICs so you can configure medium voltage.

Phase order double checked and the picture has the same order as I do.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
4.97. R-foc
installed firmware 4.97 R-foc.
seems to have adjusted syncofs according to the instructions.
when you turn on the start and forward with the help of the accelerator, the engine seems to be spinning normally
when I switch back, it also spins normally, but when the accelerator is released, the engine still spins but slowly.
no regeneration needed.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
My best guess is to try adjust the syncofs value and see if it changes anything.
Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
idle mode seems to be active (set to 3), which might explain this behavior.mikmur wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 8:35 am установил прошивку 4.97. R-foc

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
installed firmware 4.97. r-foc. until I get it syncofs, I will not change the firmware.
in the same digits syncofs behaves strangely. when entered into manualid 20 amps or more amperes 90 ..... .....the engine spins back and forth. when entering manualid 0 amps and enter ...... the motor will spin up quickly and stop.
what's wrong again, puzzling

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Maybe the resolver phases are switched?
If you slowly turn the motor by hand, what does your angle plot look like?

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Idle mode is set to always on, I do not think that will cause your issue, but try setting it to off.
Also, you have "dirmode" = Switch just as I do, this needs to be tied to 12v for the syncofs tuning process to work.
Edit: I think your syncofs value is on the "wrong side" of the valley, when you use the throttle it appears the MGR rotates in the opposite direction selected.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Hello everybody.
after long torment, the engine seemed to spin normally.
to install the sincosofs, you need to measure the voltage from the encoder (after the resistive divider)
to unwind the geared motor slowly, by hand, one revolution is difficult.
somehow unwound and measured the voltage between GND and from the encoder (after the resistive divider).
from a minimum beat 0 volts, to a maximum of 0.65 volts.
according to instructions (((U1+U2)/2)/3.3)X4096
U1=0.00V
U2=0.65V
Sincosofs=806.78
here is a video and if something is wrong with the parameters I am waiting for comments
renewal:
voltage raised to 270 volts
reshoot the video

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
I've come across a very cheap one of these and I was wondering how easy it might be to modify the body to remove the diff. Has anyone opened one of these up? Looking at the pics it's difficult to tell but I'd be interested to know if it's possible to separate the motor from the diff and make it much smaller.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
Had an Estima one appart some time ago, and locked the differential, as wanted a single wheel output , and used it to push a 1999 prius .
Housings came appart fairly easily, and didn't cut the case .More recently, last year passed it on to another enthusiast, who cut away the casing, to utilize just the motor part, as a generator..
I can find more details from him if that helps.

Re: Toyota MGR Rear Traction Transaxle
I checked with my friend, At this stage, the MGR , housing has not been cut down.
Will update you when any relevant pictures are taken, is not sounding imminent.
When cut down, I guess it would be a comparable size and Kw to the I 3 Rex,
One complication is that the MGR I think drips or mists oil around the windings, to take heat to the outside case, and the oil is lifted to a channel by reduction gear rotation then distributed by spray from the rotor.. I could be corrected on this, was many years have passed.
Is your intention to use this as a generator?
