Re: Is Such a Battery Possible?
As above, look for PHEV batteries which are power dense rather than BEV batteries which are energy dense.

I see the new Renault 5 "Turbo" has 2x rear hub motors!

Be interesting if these actually see production?

Interesting project. What transmission/gear reduction would you use with the Helix motor? Would that also fit in the transmission tunnel?
Don't know how far down the road you are but just 'throwing this out there'!
How about dual motor setup?

The Tesla SDU seems a little over kill - unless you plan on doing some drag racing!
How about the Outlander rear motor? more powerful than your current tdi - and much cheaper than a tesla SDU & very compact.

That's just the job of your BMS - it will communicate with either your onboard changer - or offboard DC charger and let them know it's required charge rate.

Interesting project. I can't help regarding battery upgrade - but I am familiar with other VAG upgrades.
For example - when fitting a larger brake system 288 to 312mm - you can/should code the car for the new brake size so the ABS/TSC 'knows' the brake system and will adjust it's parameters to suit ...

Interesting,
Such a nice power dense motor and inverter would be great to see it in more cars.
Already have a partnership with Aston - which won't help much for 2nd hand 'affordable' motors

I read about this 1.2million mile model S the other day - which shockingly has had 13 replacement motors!
Seems even Tesla couldn't fix it! Would be interesting to know what kept failing on these - if it was the same coolant ingress problem?

I like this pump very much: VW P/N 7L0965561D

It is very convenient as its output has small angle relative to input. This makes it easier to fit into linear space.
But as for reliability is concerned genuine Audi coolant pump is the toughest ...

Re: Radiator Core Size...cooling capacity?
I've heard this a bunch from normal car guys, and the logic has never made sense to me.
Coolant can't flow "too quickly to cool" through the radiator.
The radiator is removing a certain amount of heat per second. It does that regardless of how fast you're pumping the coolant through it.
If you ...

All I can tell you is its pretty clear Tesla is anti aftermarket therefore DIY. Most of the 5-10 seal makers I've contacted told of prior engagement with Tesla/Tier1 supplier on the coolant seal. One told me they stopped after finding out was in some kind of design competition to make one that ...

For those running a GS450h transmission, what are your rear differential ratios? Mine is 2.73 and I'm thinking of something in the high 3's to get more low speed torque.
